HOW I GOT INTO ROCKY:
I saw my first show in April of 1996. I loved it and HAD to go every week! It was my first experience seeing a man in women's lingerie and I thought the Frank was just amazing. I liked the part of Magenta right away, so I got the movie, went home and practiced the part about 100 times and glued together a Magenta costume. In June of '96, I "got my break" when I was needed as an emergency fill-in for Magenta. Shortly thereafter, I became lead Magenta for Interchangeable Parts. In the next auditions, I won understudy Frank, so I began practicing that part, too. Several months later, the part of lead Frank became open, so that became my main part in late 1996. I loved it just as much as I loved Magenta, if not more! After all these years, I've played every character in the movie, but my favorite roles are still Frank and Magenta.
LARGER THAN LIFE (1997 - 2004):
There was a cast called "Larger Than Life" that performed annually for Halloween at Tampa Theatre, a huge historic theatre in downtoen Tampa. It was an all-star cast of Rocky Horror performers from all over Tampa Bay. Everyone had to audition to get their role and I was lucky enough to get dinner scene Frank/Transylvanian my first year (1997), then lead Magenta every year afterwards until the show's final run in 2004. Attendance grew every year, and even sold out for about two years in a row (1446 seats!) until a second night was added in 2003 and 2004, where the show averaged about 3000 people those years. The RHPS fan club president, Sal Piro, attended our show for the last several years it ranl, too. That show was one of the biggest in the country, according to Sal.
THE RICH WEIRDOS (2003-2005):
From 2003-Jan 2005, I was also on the Orlando cast, The Rich Weirdos. Although they're 90 minutes away, I performed there twice a month, as either a Trannie or Eddie. So at one point, I was on 3 casts at the same time (IP, Larger Than Life, and IP). Some weekends, I'd perform the RW show in Orlando on Friday night, perform the IP show Saturday night, go to LTL rehearsal from 8-12pm Sunday morning, then go back to Orlando for 5-8pm rehearsals. Yeah, I was that crazy.
WEBMISTRESS (11/98 - 1/1/10):
In 11/98, the cast decided it needed a website, so I decided to make one, myself, and taught myself HTML to build it. It went through many overhauls and design changes in the 11+ years it was up, but I was ready to pass on the reins to someone else.
TREASURER (11/98 - 1/2010, 3/2012-CURRENT):
IP's treasurer before me in the 1990s spent our tips as we made them, so I was voted in as the treasurer. I quit the job in 1/2010 only to pick it back up again in 3/2012.
